A bus ride from Khao Sok to Khao Lak takes one and a half to two hours. I arrived at Red Sea Dragon Divers club, withdrew 20,000 baht from the nearest bank and got five percents discount for paying in cash. The commission on my credit card for that amount was two percents plus $3.5 USD for the withdraw. I paid in total 18,810 baht for four days and four nights including thirteen dives.

Room prices in Khao Lak are high and I was sorry for not staying another night in my bungalow in Khao Sok. The prices range from 300-400 baht and going up. The cheapest place was a dormitory. It was the first time I saw this kind of place in Thailand. Four people share the same room with two double-decker beds. You lose your privacy and pay less (150 baht). There was one nice girl in that room that night, so I decided to stay.

That day I toured the region near Khao Lak. There are not many attractions around the town. Khao Lak National Park is one of few places you can visit. Other than that, you can scuba-dive or go the beach. The dive boat was supposed to go at 8:00 PM and thus I had the full day for traveling.

My ear still aches in the morning. It wasn’t serious, but to be sure I went to the nearest pharmacy to buy antibiotic ear drops (110 baht). An ear infection is one of the more serious problems before going to scuba-dive. Especially before a series of dives that I was going to do during the dive safari. The water pressure on the ears might make it worse and cause such pains that will disable the option to dive at all.
