Eilat is located at the south end of Israel. It is an attraction for tourists mainly because of its location on the shores of the red sea. Many hotels in the city, many tourist attractions and of course you can go dive in the red sea.

למה לצלול?

אל העולם התת-הימי המופלא הגעתי במקרה . זה היה לפני מספר שנים במהלך אחד מהביקורים שלי בריף הדולפנים באילת. במקום מוצעת צלילת היכרות במחיר לא זול. קצת מפחיד להתמסר למכשירים ולהתנתק מכל אפשרות לשאוף אוויר בצורה שבה אנו רגילים מעל המים. לקח לי כמה דקות טובות להתרגל למצב החדש. צלילת ההיכרות מגיעה לעומק שבין שלושה עד חמישה מטרים. למרות המחיר הגבוה, אני ממליץ לכל אחד להתנסות ולו פעם אחת בחוויית הצלילה. עברו שנים מאז אותה צלילה, ולמרות שקיבלתי החלטה לעבור קורס צלילה, היא מעולם לא יצאה לפועל. בסה”כ, הצלילה הינה ספורט שאינו זול ואף עלול להיות מסוכן אם לא נלקח ברצינות הראויה. כדי שיהיה אפשר להנות מהצלילה, יש לנסוע עד אילת ואף רחוק משם. בים התיכון הראות לא טובה ולא נמשכתי לצלול שם. גם הרחיקו אותי סיפורי האימה על מדוזות ענק שצורבות את הצוללים בלב ים, ובסופו של דבר ירדתי לגמרי מהנושא.

קורס הצלילה שלי קיבל דחיפה רצינית כאשר החלטתי לטוס לתאילנד בינואר 2007. שמעתי סיפורים על גן-עדן מתחת למים שאסור לפספס. החלטתי לנצל את חלון ההזדמנויות שנפתח והלכתי לבדוק לגבי קורס צלילה זול בתאילנד. שתי ציפורים במכה אחת?

קורס צלילה - הים האדום או הים התיכון?

אחרי שהתקבלה בידי ההחלטה לעשות קורס צלילה בארץ הקודש, הייתי צריך לבחור היכן. הים התיכון או ים סוף? בשבילי התשובה הייתה פשוטה מכיוון שהיה באפשרותי להקציב שבוע שלם לטובת העניין. בים סוף, לעומת הים התיכון, הראות מתחת למים הרבה יותר טובה, יש הרבה יותר מה לראות, והתנאים נוחים יותר גם מבחינת הכניסה למים (אין צורך בסירה), גם מבחינת טמפרטורת המים, וגם מבחינת הזרמים.

את הקורס עברתי במועדון מאד מומלץ שנקרא “קורל סי דייברס”. לא אשווה אותו למועדונים אחרים מכיוון שאת הקורס עברתי במועדון אחד. אם יחסי אנוש טובים ורמת הדרכה גבוהה זה מה שאתם מחפשים, אז זה מקום טוב להתחיל בו. הקורס אורך שבוע ימים, כאשר בחמשת הימים הראשונים עוברים הסמכה לכוכב ראשון (היתר צלילה עד לעומק 18 מטרים), ובשישי-שבת עוברים התמחויות נוספות שנותנות הסמכה לכוכב שני (היתר צלילה עד לעומק 30 מטרים).

אילת בחורף - הים אותו ים~Eilat In The Winter

It was one of those frozen days of the winter. The temperature in Eilat reached 14 degress in the day and 5 degrees at night. Although it’s very cold, the city is full with tourists. There’s not much to do in Eilat but scuba-diving, conferences or vacations. The last time I went to Eilat was one and a half years ago during my diving course. Nothing much has changed since. Eilat is pretty boring. One promenade, one mall and a beach which is the main attraction of the city. The visibility in the winter is pretty good. Aqaba in Jordan is seen pretty well, but the cold and winds force everyone to get away and find a protected corner. Although it’s still January, many of the Israelis are touring Eilat, the local mall is exploded with people and there’s no shortage of people in the hotels either. The hot deals attract the Israelis and indeed this is a good season to find a cheap vacation.

Although it was very cold, some crazy people decided to check to water. The day after I will be one of them but with a 5mm dive suit. Next are some photos from Eilat in the winter.

צלילות חורפיות בים האדום אילת~Winter Dives In The Red Sea Eilat

January 2008. Temperatures are dropping to five degrees at night. The cold doesn’t leave the city the day after. Fifteen degrees. I went to my dive club Coral Sea Divers for guided dives after my plans to dive with a friend didn’t work out. I was told at the dive club that under the water the temperature will be twenty one degrees, I got a full 5mm dive suit and we went on an open jeep toward the Egyptian border. The main suffering in winter dives is riding in an open jeep. Cold winds are freezing your bones and I could barely feel my fingers.
